Oscars 2011: Best Dressed

Hilary Swank wore a sequin and ombré feather gown by Gucci with Anna Hu jewelry. I completely obsess over the sequin-feather look and it was executed to perfection here with the light to dark cascading feathers that start below the hips. This was definitely my favorite dress of the night.

Mandy Moore was another pleasant surprise in this sequin nude Monique Lhuillier dress. You rarely see this kind of dress work so well but she looked so classic and glamorous.

Gwyneth Paltrow was stunning and minimal on the red carpet wearing a Calvin Klein sequined gown with Louis Vitton jewelry. This dress was great because of the simple sophistication and dazzling detail. It was literally hard to take your eyes off of her on the red carpet.

Mila Kunis looked perfectly delicate in a lavender Elie Saab chiffon dress. I loved the petals of lace accenting her breasts and the tiers of lace with nude fabric peeking through. She kept the jewelry minimal and I just adored her in this dress.
Halle Berry was feminine and dazzling in a Marchesa nude sequined gown. I think the tulle gave the dress interesting body and it's in all the right places so definitely a win with me.

Tadashi Shoji Fall 2011 Collection - NYFW

The feathers, lace, hand made floral details, and softly layered gowns created an air of easy going glamour at Tadashi Shoji. Everything was styled perfectly with skinny belts, statement necklaces, and sexy ankle strap platforms. Check out the runway highlights video and my favorite looks below.

Jad Ghandor Fall 2011 RTW Collection - NYFW

One collection that blew me away was Jad Ghandour's. The best pieces in his collection were sophisticated and sexy. I would've loved it if he went with different belts to accent the looks but you can still see his vision clearly. Here are some of my favorite looks straight from the runway.

LIVE: Altuzarra Fall 2011 Collection New York Fashion Week

Luca Luca Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Luca Luca was the first designer at New York Fashion Week to show a collection that remixed fall with bold colors and interesting textures. The olive green skirt (right) has delicate sheer leaves that created enchanting movement coming down the runway. The fur coat, print top, with high-waisted wide leg maroon trousers look (below right), bold orange pantsuit (below left), and maroon print dress with a beaded collar were a few of my personal favorites.

Check out more favorites from the collection and a video of the show's highlights below.

Victor De Souza Fall 2011 Ready-To-Wear

Victor de Souza's Fall collection embraced a softer side of the designer who is known for being dramatically structured. For me, the blue one shoulder gown (right) was the most enchanting piece in his collection. However, the white sleeveless dress (bottom right) is fairly brilliant to me because of the gathering just below the waist that allows the hemline to sculpt a neat curve. Since the design is easily understood its more appealing to the ready-to-wear audience than previous sculpted pieces from de Souza.

Other noteworthy pieces are the black long sleeved romper (below) which almost gives the illusion of being a blazer and soft feminine grey playsuit (bottom left) which can be casual or easily glam'ed up. Oh and yes, those models were given the browless alien look. View the full collection at www.nowfashion.com.

Richard Chai Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Outerwear, maxi dresses, and sheers in black and neutrals were the main attraction in Richard Chai's Fall 2011 collection. Chai's signature style, casuals with unusual texture, definitely showed in my favorite looks (shown above). The grey maxi dress, oversized coat, and tan ankle boots are minimal, but the details of the dress (draping on the collar and asymmetrical seam line) and color combination are what spoke to me. The sheer blouse with sequin embellishment that was layered over a dark top and long flowing skirt were captivating to me.

BCBG Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear NYFW

BCBG Max Azria showed a collection wrapped around minimal style. It featured plenty of sheer layers and draping, all layered over thin white turtle necks and styled with just below the knee boots. This wasn't my favorite collection by the Azria's, but a couple of dresses managed to catch my eye. You can view the complete collection over at Style.com or check out the highlights below.
